Maureen Thompson, MA, CAE, is the Director of Board Governance, Operations, and Relations at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Before PCORI, she was the vice president of governance and planning at the American Nurses Association (ANA), where she advanced the development and execution of strategy across the ANA enterprise, which comprises ANA and two subsidiary organizations. In addition, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of three governing boards along with myriad advisory bodies and governance committees. Prior, she held various board and advocacy leadership roles at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Thompson received her master’s degree in audiology from George Washington University and her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Maryland. She also holds the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives and certification in Strategic Management Performance from the College of Professional Studies at George Washington University.
