Melissa Shiffman, LMSW, has cystic fibrosis and recently joined the governance board of the Cystic Fibrosis Sexual and Reproductive Health Collaborative. In the past year, she has participated in their patient task force meetings where adult women with cystic fibrosis meet and talk about a sexual and reproductive health topic and then craft questions for further research. She is a licensed Master of Social Work, though she is not currently working. She still attends trainings and workshops to maintain her license, however. As a patient with cystic fibrosis, she is interested in research areas outside just drug development and encourages other patients to take part as well.
