Patricia Evans, PhD, holds a doctorate degree in nursing and has spent her professional career as the Chief Mission Officer for the American Cancer Society’s South Atlantic Division. After she retired, and her late husband died of stage 4 lung cancer, she was asked to become a Patient Advisor at Christiana Care in Delaware, where she already served as a trustee of the health system. About the time she retired, three of her grandchildren and siblings were diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). For one of them, that has led to clinical depression. Another of her grandchildren has an eating disorder. So as a grandparent and nurse, Evans has become very interested in rare genetic diseases and mental health issues. Recently, she joined the HOMERuN project as a patient advisor and had the opportunity to attend the PCORI Annual Meeting, where she met several Ambassadors. Based on her educational and professional experiences and her personal interests in health care and science, Evans believes that she has something to add to the PCORI Ambassador program.

Ambassador Interests

Health Conditions Health Conditions These are the broad terms we use to categorize our funded research studies; specific diseases or conditions are included within the appropriate larger category. Note: not all of our funded projects focus on a single disease or condition; some touch on multiple diseases or conditions, research methods, or broader health system interventions. Such projects won’t be listed by a primary disease/condition and so won’t appear if you use this filter tool to find them. View Glossary
Populations Populations PCORI is interested in research that seeks to better understand how different clinical and health system options work for different people. These populations are frequently studied in our portfolio or identified as being of interest by our stakeholders. View Glossary
