Rachel Haake is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience program in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on the neural mechanisms that underlie persistent cocaine seeking and relapse, using rodent models. Her work is highly translational and can inform patient-centered treatment strategies for substance use disorders. Her ultimate career goals are to join the public policy sector to serve as an advocate for individuals suffering from mental illness and substance use disorders and influence policymakers to create laws that prioritize patient-centered outcomes.
