Rachel Hemphill, MA, PhD, is a Program Officer in the Evaluation and Analysis department at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
Before joining PCORI, Hemphill was a post-doctoral research scholar at the Pennsylvania State University's Center for Healthy Aging. Her work focused on the development of a web-based intervention to improve the health behaviors and communication skills of couples coping with chronic health conditions, such as diabetes and arthritis. Hemphill is experienced in conducting quantitative research on chronic illness management and has authored several publications on psychological and social factors that influence the health of chronically ill adults and their partners.
Hemphill received a BA in psychology and French from the University of Tennessee, and an MA and PhD in experimental psychology with a concentration in health and social psychology at Kent State University.
