Russell Bennett, MBA, CHIE, is a strategy and marketing consultant who specializes in health literacy, employee engagement, and healthcare cost stabilization.
Bennett currently serves as a consultant to the Institute for Healthcare Advancement and as an advisor to various companies and organizations. Additionally, he serves as a consultant to the Regional Center for Border Health and their six walk-in clinics in Western Arizona, assisting them to implement a year-long vaccine confidence grant, with a focus on patient engagement and education, in both English and Spanish. Formerly, Bennett served as Vice President, Opportunity Strategy and Development for myConnections within UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Community and State, and focused his work on social determinants of health. Bennett also spent 14 years as National Vice President of Latino Health Solutions at UHC, leading efforts to enhance the company’s resources to better serve and grow UHC’s over 5 million Hispanic/Latino members.
Bennett was also the founding Executive Director for the United States-Mexico Border Health Commission, US Section, for the Department of Health and Human Services. Before that, Bennett served as Director, International and Multicultural Services for Sharp HealthCare, the largest nonprofit hospital system and healthcare provider along the US-Mexico border.
Bennett lived in Mexico for 30 years, is fluent in Spanish, and identifies as bicultural. Bennett has supported health improvement for many years, with special emphasis on the Latino and Asian communities and is the recipient of multiple national awards and recognitions for health leadership and innovation.
