Starleen Maharaj-Lewis designed the first community health worker program at Unity Care NW, a Federally Qualified Health Center. She has worked with marginalized populations in diverse settings in community health initiatives across the nation. In addition to previous work in developing the framework for health equity infrastructure, she also provides recommendations in essential research systems to improve environmental and health literacy among marginalized communities. Maharaj-Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and has attended graduate studies in public health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Tulane University. She is involved with PCORI as a merit reviewer and Ambassador.
