Thomas Scheid was introduced to PCORI when he was part of the research team on a PCORI-funded project that started in 2014. As we worked through the process of operationalizing an effective patient advisory council, he was so impressed with the insights and knowledge of PCORI staff on patient engagement that he was motivated to become a PCORI Ambassador. Scheid’s goal was to find ways to help spread the word about patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) and the difference it could make for patients and families. His application to become part of the Patient Engagement Advisory Panel was accepted in 2017, and he is currently its Co-Chair. Although accepted as a PCORI Merit Reviewer this past year, he has not yet been part of any reviews in this capacity. However, as a PCORI Peer Reviewer, Scheid has conducted numerous reviews of research summaries for the PCOR Translation Center.

Ambassador Interests

Health Conditions Health Conditions These are the broad terms we use to categorize our funded research studies; specific diseases or conditions are included within the appropriate larger category. Note: not all of our funded projects focus on a single disease or condition; some touch on multiple diseases or conditions, research methods, or broader health system interventions. Such projects won’t be listed by a primary disease/condition and so won’t appear if you use this filter tool to find them. View Glossary
Populations Populations PCORI is interested in research that seeks to better understand how different clinical and health system options work for different people. These populations are frequently studied in our portfolio or identified as being of interest by our stakeholders. View Glossary
