Valerie Adelson is the Senior Vice President of Federal Compliance Consulting, a law and consulting firm based in the Washington, DC area. There she is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies and directions for healthcare clients’ legislative and regulatory agendas, including healthcare cultural competence, addressing disparities in health care, population health management, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services 30-day readmission penalty program, and behavioral health. Adelson also provides programmatic assistance for research that reveals how inadequate discharge instructions to non-English-speaking patients and families results in increased readmission rates, higher malpractice liability, and lower patient satisfaction metrics. She represents diverse constituencies on complex matters to members of Congress, at federal and state government agencies, and before national conferences.
