Project Summary

Patient and stakeholder engagement are critical to the widespread integration of patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) within the health care system and community. The understanding of the value of PCOR by patients, providers, payers, and researchers is still in its infancy in Utah. As neutral conveners and a nonprofit community-based organization, HealthInsight will hold an event in Fall 2015 that will bring together patients, researchers, providers, and payers. We will also develop a community network to connect researchers with the community to promote patient and community engagement in PCOR. In addition, we will identify research questions relevant to Utahans. Finally, we will strategize next steps for a roadmap for PCOR work for the Utah health care delivery system.

The projected outputs from this project are a learning collaborative for disseminating and implementing PCOR for critical care clinicians created, and an “e-community” learning network to engage critical care clinicians, patients, and families to share strategies for enabling patient centered outcomes research to improve care in the ICU designed.

Project collaborators include the Utah Partnership for Value-Driven Health Care; Community Faces of Utah; University of Utah School of Medicine; Salt Lake Interfaith Roundtable; Utah Health Policy Project; Intermountain Healthcare; and PFAC members.
