Culturally Appropriate Options for Diabetes Prevention and Care for Low-Income Latinos - Tier II

This project builds on the work of our PCORI Tier I award. One Hope Centro de Vida Health Center is collaborating with the Office for Community Health at the University of New Mexico to develop capacity for patient-engaged comparative effectiveness research (CER) related to diabetes health for Latinos from low-income households. We have convened a patient advisory board with participation of four Latino diabetes patients and four patient caregivers to work on this project with us.

We have six objectives:

1. to build the capacity of our patient partners to better understand the concept of and process for conducting research,
2. to submit a full CER proposal to PCORI in May 2015 (if invited following submission of a Letter of Intent in March),
3. to update/revise our patient advisory board governance structure,
4. to generate a list of potential CER research questions,
5. to update/revise our outreach plan and conduct targeted outreach to external stakeholders, and
6. to develop and submit a Tier III proposal.
