Project Summary
Robeson County Diabetes Wellness Day is an effort of the Robeson Community Advisory Board (CAB), which represents multiple community stakeholders dedicated to alleviating the burden of diabetes in Robeson County, North Carolina. With one of the highest rates of diabetes in the United States, Robeson residents face a unique set of barriers to healthcare access and financial resources to address their health. In order to facilitate better diabetes self-management and improve the healthcare climate in their county, the CAB decided to create an annual event for the community. The conferences in 2014 and 2015 focused on the cornerstones of diabetes self-management as workshop topics. To improve upon the first two events, the CAB is expanding the planning committee and engaging in a continuous process of integrating community feedback. There will be an emphasis on patient-centered outcomes in the agenda, and the conference will be followed by a six-month dissemination phase to support implementation of research findings, products, and resources that are highlighted during the event.
