Project Summary

ASHA, the Atlanta South Asian Health Alliance, was formed during Tier I of the Pipeline to Proposal grant cycle. Over the course of the past year, our community–academic coalition has grown to include a diverse group of stakeholders that represent the Bangladeshi community of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The partners include patients, family members, physicians, public health researchers, religious leaders, cultural organizations, and other allied health professionals. By the end of Tier I, our coalition consisted of over 15 members who diligently worked to develop respectful meeting norms, a governance structure, comparative effectiveness research questions, and a commitment to our shared mission statement. During Tier II, our coalition hopes to further narrow our research question, develop capacity to work together as a research team, add partners as needed, and successfully apply for additional funding to continue our work.
