Project Summary

The Maternal Mental Health Research Collaborative (MMHRC) will build on the partnerships developed in Tier I as the project continues to develop its governance, recruitment, and dissemination strategies. Maintaining its focus on the use of peer support assisted through technology as a treatment modality for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, the MMHRC will engage patients, healthcare providers, and researchers in the development of its online and social media presence, and work with new academic and private sector partners to refine its comparative effectiveness research for submission to PCORI at the end of Tier III.

Broader MMHRC goals include the development of a permanent standing project committee that will explore other funding opportunities and research questions of interest to stakeholders. Additional work will be done to explore online engagement and recruitment strategies for mothers to participate in mental health research. Developing online training resources and connecting mothers to other clinical research opportunities through MMHRC partners will also form part of the project’s work plan as it seeks to establish a large patient-centered network of mothers who are ready to engage in relevant research priorities they have helped develop.
