This rapid-cycle descriptive analysis project provides an opportunity for demonstrating the utility and value of collecting patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) during routine care in a standardized format for use in research analyses conducted within PCORnet. This study will focus on collecting PROMs for outpatients with heart failure and incorporating them into the PCORnet Common Data Model (CDM) to accelerate research and improve clinical care.
The study will examine both the implementation of well-validated PROMs for heart failure in clinical practice and their integration into the PCORnet CDM. It is the first project that aims to load PROMs collected during routine clinical practice at multiple institutions into the PCORnet CDM.
The project will advance patient-centered outcomes research in PCORnet by developing:
- a growing source of PROM data from patients with heart failure,
- a sustainable PROM collection processes, and
- resources to allow for greater evaluation of future PROMs and heart-failure outcomes.
