Project Summary

On October 23-26, 2018, Respecting Choices will hold its second National Share the Experience (NSTE) Conference: Improving Person-Centered Outcomes through Collaboration at the Minneapolis Airport Marriott, Bloomington, Minnesota. This conference will bring together more than 300 participants representing a diverse range of community groups, non-health professionals, healthcare providers, researchers, national leaders, and other stakeholders who are committed to improving person-centered care outcomes. The purpose of the NSTE 2018 conference is to share best practices and learnings from evidence-based Respecting Choices programs (and other stakeholders) that jointly collaborate by combining complementary advance care planning (ACP) and shared decision making (SDM) programs. Through the promotion of collective learning and networking, this conference will help achieve the vision of transforming healthcare culture through organizations integrating and disseminating best practices of patient-centered care. As the conference sponsor, Respecting Choices aims to capture and disseminate key learnings and strategies to effectively implement and sustain evidence-based systems to replicate successes based on the conference presentations and discussions. Participants are strongly encouraged to go back to their respective organizations and communities with the knowledge and information gained through the conference experience to help create efforts leading to change and promoting better person-centered care outcomes through collaboration.

Videos and presentation handouts from plenary sessions and select workshop and concurrent sessions focused on improving person-centered care outcomes and collaboration will be shared widely with conference attendees and larger audiences.
