Project Summary
This project is ongoing and does not have results.
PCORI is commissioning three rapid reviews to assess evidence on the effectiveness of audio care for:
- Mental health and substance use disorders
- Diabetes
- Other chronic conditions
Because telehealth, including audio care, has experienced a swift and widespread adoption in the United States, PCORI seeks to understand the evidence base on a compressed timeline in order to inform our future research investments. In addition to PCORI’s programmatic needs, PCORI aims to support the decisions of healthcare professionals, policy makers, and healthcare organizations with timely and high-quality evidence about audio care.
The goal of the rapid reviews is to assess the clinical effectiveness and potential harms of audio care for the management of chronic conditions and mental health treatment in the context of usual care and its potential impact on health disparities.
