The Health Systems Implementation Initiative (HSII) is a new funding initiative under development with PCORI’s Dissemination & Implementation (D&I) program. HSII will provide a channel to facilitate real-world uptake and use of evidence in healthcare delivery systems.

PCORI wishes to learn about health systems’ interest in undertaking implementation projects to improve care delivery based on findings from PCORI-funded research and related evidence. Further, PCORI seeks feedback regarding the incentives and support that would enable health systems to undertake these activities.

Applicants under this initiative—healthcare delivery systems and provider-aligned health plans—will have the opportunity to propose approaches, mechanisms, and pathways to support changes in care and care delivery that will improve health care and patient health outcomes. PCORI funding will support health systems in initiating these changes within their care delivery settings and in evaluating the impact of these changes. HSII is intended to facilitate lasting change and to provide the basis for further scale-up of evidence-based practice within participant healthcare organizations and beyond.

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, PCORI held a webinar that discussed more details about HSII and the RFI.
